John Parkinson designed more iconic structures in Los Angeles than any other architect – dead or alive – and yet he was almost forgotten. Now in a new PBS documentary viewers can follow Parkinson’s remarkable journey from the industrial northwest of England to becoming the dominant architect of Los Angeles at a time when the city was inventing itself.
A co-production between Clear Sky Films, LLC and PBS SoCal Iconic Vision: John Parkinson, Architect of Los Angeles includes a wealth of never before seen archive footage images and plans as well as interviews with leading California historians, Parkinson relatives and Angela Lansbury who began her working life in Los Angeles as a cashier in Bullock’s Wilshire.
